    • Global standards in Kazakhstan scientific publications: QYZPU discussed the impact of global standards and requirements on the development of Kazakhstan scientific journals

      The scientific seminar, organized on the initiative of the Chairman of the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education, Adilet Toibayev, on the basis of the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University, gathered more than 140 editors of national scientific journals, vice-rectors for scientific work of Kazakhstani universities, as well as representatives of well-known companies in the field of scientific publishing, such as Clarivate Analytics and Wiley. The seminar was an important event for discussing the current state and prospects for the development of scientific journals in Kazakhstan.

      The transformation of the Committee's List of Scientific Publications over the last 30 years was presented during the seminar. The participants discussed the current state of Kazakhstan scientific journals and identified trajectories of their development. The Chairman of the Committee, Adilet Toibayev, spoke in detail about the status of journals included in the Committee's List of Publications, as well as the reasons for the exclusion of journals from the list. He specifically mentioned articles containing plagiarism and not meeting the requirements for novelty and evidence.

                                                   

      Special attention was paid to the issue of search and selection of reviewers. The Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of clinical medicine of Kazakhstan, Abduzhappar Gaіpov, expressed his views on this issue. Inesh Kenzhina, representative of Clarivate Analytics, gave a presentation on the creation of international journals, providing best practices and recommendations.

                                                                                         

      The workshop also had an international response with the participation of foreign academic journal editors from Germany and the UK. Rosalba Rincon, Editor-in-Chief of Wiley Batteries & Supercaps and ChemElectroChem, shared the European Society for Chemistry journal standards. Abraham Althonayan, member of the Editorial Board of Tailor and Francis and Emerald Publishing, spoke about the principles of the Editorial Board.

                                                                                                                               

      Kazakhstan editors also shared their experiences. Galiya Bazarbayeva and Gulnar Jumabekova, responsible secretaries of the journal "Archeology of Kazakhstan", spoke about preparing their journal for promotion to Scopus. Irina Pustolaikina, Executive Editor of the journal "Eurasian journal of Chemistry" of E. Buketov Karaganda University, raised the topic of rebranding of the journal. Bekarys Nuriman, member of the editorial board of the journal "Milli folklore", associate professor of South Kazakhstan State Pedagogical University, made a presentation on the peculiarities of reviewing articles in the humanitarian sphere. Mukhit Muratov, scientific editor of the journal of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University "Physical Science and Technology", shared his experience of creating and promoting his journal in Scopus.

                                                                                                                               

      This event was an important step in the development of scientific publications in Kazakhstan and facilitated the exchange of experience between domestic and foreign editors, as well as identifying prospects for further development of the scientific sphere in the country.

      During the workshop, Ms. Karlygash Sakenova, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education, met with doctoral students of universities in Almaty. Future scientific leaders presented their research projects to her, told her about their scientific interests and achievements. They also asked questions regarding the defense of their work.

                                                        

      Karlygash Sakenova expressed her gratitude to doctoral students for their dedication and efforts in the field of science. She emphasized the importance of their research work for the development of the educational system of the country and ensuring its competitiveness in the world arena. During this meeting it became obvious that young scientists show great potential and are ready to contribute to the development of science and education in Kazakhstan.
